PixWriter: After borrowing the PixWriter software from PATINS, we purchased our own edition. It is a beneficial tool for ASD students with low verbalization skills. I have typed out the verbal responses to the scripted SRA Language for Learning program and the student can "read" along as they hear the model of what they are to respond. It has really helped with verbal expression. I have also used it to make sentences which I cut into individual words for my PECs users.

The triple E notebook that I borrowed from Patins was a great resource for one of my students with ASD. His handwriting is difficult to read, and took him a great deal of time to actually write what he wanted. His frustration level has dropped and he feels good about his work.

Our district has used the RedCat amplification system with 2 students who have cochlear implants with good success. I guess you know it helps when you get a big hug and a thank you from the 6 year old student. We borrowed first and then purchased at a reduced rate on advice from PATINS.

My higher functioning kids really like the game Mystery Detectives by Big Fish Games. Do you have this software?

The light box and vibrating pillow allowed my 2 students to participate in an enjoyable multi-sensory cause/effect experience. It enabled them to increase their ability to interact both socially and personally.

The Lightwriter device has worked well for a student who is a good reader, enjoys technology, and can type well. This is the second student with autism we have tried this with who meets the above criteria and has had success.

I like the idea of sharing ideas on technology. It will be helpful in solving some tech problems, too. Great idea!

Early Math Skills by Marblesoft was enjoyed and appeared to be the most beneficial to the majority of my students. The Early Addition I part of the program moved forward too quickly for some students. Primary students, ages 7 - 9 used this program. The size of the visuals are great. Screens are simple, bold, and easy to read. Sequencing and the more than/less than activities are very useful.
